Australia's Great Barrier Reef is truly one of the seven natural wonders of the world so given 95%+ of us will never visit, why not get up close and personal with The Great Barrier Reef (GBR)? While somewhat dated as from 2013 so only deals with 3 / 5 major coral bleaching events as 2 have occurred since this was released, 2016 and 2017, it's still a tremendous grounding in one of, if not, the most ecologically sensitive regions in the world stretching a full 2000 kilometers in length and made up of 3000 individual reef systems and hundreds of islands.
The GBR has formed over tens / hundreds of thousands of years and the disregard we are showing it is incredibly disappointing. Named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981, the Great Barrier Marine Park Authority (GBMPA) publishes an Outlook Report that examines the GBR's health, pressures and future and the most recent one in 2019 was somber. Folks, this is a global treasure that we do NOT want to be taking any risks with so it's time for all of us to get serious here. Really, really.
